London Marathon to be two-day event in 2027

The 2027 London Marathon will be held across two days — Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 April — in a special one-off edition, allowing 100,000 runners to participate, effectively doubling the usual capacity. The decision follows a record 1.33 million people entering the ballot for the event, prompting organisers to explore ways to expand access. The two-day format is expected to raise over £150 million for charities and contribute a £400 million boost to the UK economy, according to London Marathon Events CEO Hugh Brasher.
