Longtime NBA coach, Hall of Famer Rick Adelman dies at 79

Longtime NBA coach and Hall of Famer Rick Adelman passed away on Monday, June 1, 2026, at the age of 79, as announced by the National Basketball Coaches Association. Adelman spent 29 seasons as an NBA head coach and was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame in 2021. Prior to coaching, he played seven seasons in the league starting with the San Diego Rockets in 1968, averaging 7.7 points and 3.5 assists per game before retiring after the 1974-75 season.
