Lopez wrests Romero's title, now 3-weight champ

Teofimo Lopez became a three-division world champion on Saturday night at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, defeating Rolando Romero by majority decision (114-114, 115-113, 116-112) to claim the WBA welterweight title. The win marks an impressive comeback for Lopez (23-2, 13 KOs) following his lopsided loss to Shakur Stevenson in January. Romero, who had won the WBA title in an upset over Ryan Garcia in May 2025, struggled to match Lopez's pace and timing in the second half after a 15-month layoff.
