Lyles, Richardson ease into 100m semis at US athletics championships

Olympic 100m champion Noah Lyles and 2023 world champion Sha'Carri Richardson advanced to the 100m semi-finals at the US Athletics Championships on Thursday in New York. Lyles won his heat in 9.97 seconds, the second-quickest time of the day behind Christian Coleman's 9.96, while Richardson topped the women's heats in 10.90 seconds. Both are strong favorites heading into Friday's finals, with Richardson's main rival Melissa Jefferson-Wooden having opted to compete only in the 200m this week.
