Major Ryder Cup decision made for opening hole at Adare Manor as horse-shoe grandstand forces issue

The 2027 Ryder Cup centenary edition at Adare Manor in County Limerick, Ireland, will feature a driveable par-4 opening hole of just 294 yards. The decision to use a forward tee on the first hole was made to accommodate a horse-shoe grandstand capable of holding 6,500 spectators. The shortened distance means players will be able to reach the green directly from the tee, adding extra drama to the opening moments of the match.
