Makar, Werenski among NHL Network’s top 20 defensemen

NHL Network producers and analysts revealed their top 20 defensemen in the League as part of a nine-part series, with Cale Makar and Radko Gudas-partner Devon Toews among those featured. Toews recorded 24 points in 68 regular-season games with a plus-38 even-strength goal differential, also earning three points for Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics where they won silver. Shea Theodore of the Vegas Golden Knights also ranked among the top 20, posting 39 points in 70 regular-season games while leading his team in average ice time at 22:50 per game.
