Man City charges: Premier League clubs do not expect City to be in Premier League next season if appeal fails

Manchester City have lodged an appeal against an independent commission's ruling that found them guilty of all charges related to serious breaches of Premier League financial rules. If the appeal fails, rival Premier League clubs believe that relegation — not merely a points deduction — would be the appropriate punishment, meaning City could be absent from the Premier League for at least one season. However, clubs also anticipate that even if relegated, City could potentially return to the top flight after a single year.
