Man United hit 40-year low after dropping into PL relegation zone

Manchester United have dropped into the Premier League relegation zone for the first time in 40 years at this stage of a season, mirroring their position in November 1986 when they were 21st after 15 matches. The situation was triggered by Nottingham Forest's win, which also condemned Manchester City to a third consecutive league defeat. Manager Michael Carrick's side have not won in the league since a 5-2 home victory over Ipswich Town on August 30, and face Aston Villa at Old Trafford with the risk of sinking to the bottom of the table depending on other results.
