Manchester City threaten to sue Real Madrid presidential hopeful over Haaland

Manchester City are considering legal action against Enrique Riquelme, a Real Madrid presidential candidate, after he held up a Madrid shirt bearing Erling Haaland's name on television and claimed a contract clause would allow him to sign the striker if elected. Riquelme made the statements on Wednesday, asserting that Haaland — who signed a record nine-and-a-half-year deal with City in January 2025 — wanted to join Real Madrid. The Spanish businessman also pledged that City midfielder Rodri would move to Real Madrid if he wins the presidential election.
