Maple Leafs continue organizational overhaul with hire of Sidney Crosby’s trainer, Andy O’Brien
The Toronto Maple Leafs have hired Andy O'Brien, Sidney Crosby's longtime personal strength and conditioning coach of over 20 years, to lead a revamped Sport Performance department overseeing strength, conditioning, nutrition, injury rehabilitation, and sport science. O'Brien has also worked with NHL stars Nathan MacKinnon, Taylor Hall, and Maple Leafs forward John Tavares, and contributed to four Stanley Cup victories, including two as a high-performance consultant with the Florida Panthers in 2024 and 2025. The hire is part of a sweeping organizational overhaul by new GM John Chayka following the Leafs' 28th-place finish.
