Marathon world champion Peres Jepchirchir suspended after positive EPO test

Kenyan marathon world champion Peres Jepchirchir has been suspended after testing positive for EPO (erythropoietin), a banned performance-enhancing substance. The adverse analytical finding came from a test conducted before her victory at the Sydney Marathon. Jepchirchir, who holds the world marathon title, now faces a doping ban as a result of the failed test.
