Mariners reportedly hire C.J. Gillman as hitting coach before settling on new manager

The Seattle Mariners have reportedly hired C.J. Gillman as their new hitting coach, a move made before the team has finalized its managerial search. Gillman previously oversaw the Washington Nationals' minor league system, which was ranked among the best in the minors, while Seattle struggled as one of MLB's worst hitting teams last season. The Mariners are reportedly considering former Houston Astros manager Joe Espada and Cubs director of player development Jason Kanzler as candidates for the open manager position.
