Mark Madden: Connor McDavid, Oilers will finally get their Stanley Cup and other NHL predictions

Columnist Mark Madden predicts the Edmonton Oilers, led by Connor McDavid, will win the Stanley Cup this NHL season, with Montreal appearing in the final — which would mark the first Canadian Stanley Cup winner since 1993. Madden notes the Oilers lost their season opener 6-5 in overtime to Vancouver, with goaltender Tristan Jarry allowing six goals on 23 shots, raising concerns about the position. He also predicts Toronto will miss the playoffs again, while suggesting Carolina or Buffalo could emerge as contenders if they acquire Winnipeg goalie Connor Hellebuyck.
