Marc Marquez finished ninth in the MotoGP British Grand Prix sprint race at Silverstone, securing just a single championship point after suffering a severe tyre drop from lap 5 of the 10-lap race. The reigning champion had moved up to fourth place on the opening lap but fell dramatically off the pace, lapping in the 2m00s bracket while frontrunners maintained times in the 1m58s range. Marquez, who was passed by Bezzecchi, Alex Marquez, Pedro Acosta, and Franco Morbidelli, said he had no explanation for the extent of his tyre degradation, while Aprilia locked out all three podium positions.
