Masai Russell, 26, set a new world record in the women's 100-meter hurdles at the 2026 Diamond League meet in Zurich on August 27th, clocking 12.09 seconds with zero wind assistance, breaking Tobi Amusan's previous record of 12.12 set in 2022. Russell pulled ahead of Amusan past the 40-meter mark, with Amusan finishing second in 12.23. The achievement extended Russell's unbeaten 2026 streak to 11 consecutive wins and made her the first women's hurdler since 1988 to hold both Olympic gold and the world record.
