Matthew Hudson-Smith: Birmingham Alexander Stadium stand to be named after 400m runner
A temporary extension of the north stand at Birmingham's Alexander Stadium has been named the Matthew Hudson-Smith Stand in honour of the Great Britain 400m runner and Olympic silver medallist. The 31-year-old, who was born in nearby Wolverhampton, was surprised at the unveiling ceremony, which was attended by his family, his first coach Sharon Morris, and Team GB 4x400m coach Martyn Rooney. The stand will remain in place until the conclusion of the European Athletics Championships in August.
