Max Verstappen backs IndyCar-style overtaking system for Formula 1

Four-time Formula 1 World Champion Max Verstappen appeared on the P1 with Matt & Tommy podcast and stated that if he could change one rule in F1, he would eliminate the heavy hybrid systems, remove DRS, and bring back V8 engines. His comments come as the 2026 F1 regulations are set to introduce a 50/50 power split between internal combustion engines and electrical batteries. Verstappen also expressed support for an IndyCar-style overtaking system to replace the current DRS mechanism.
