Mbappe furore rages on in China, but Mao comments censored

Kylian Mbappe's apology failed to quell anger on Chinese social media after he described a meme featuring his face photoshopped onto Mao Zedong as 'some guy -- I think he's a Chinese dictator.' The Real Madrid forward issued the apology on Tuesday following the controversy, which had already cost him several commercial deals in the Chinese market. Despite the apology, discussion of his comments continued to be censored on Chinese platforms as of Wednesday.
