McDavid gets five points to extend season-opening streak as Oilers cruise past Mammoth
Connor McDavid recorded two goals and three assists to extend his season-opening point streak to eight games, leading the NHL with 23 points as the Edmonton Oilers defeated the Utah Mammoth 6-2 at Delta Center in Salt Lake City on Saturday. McDavid tied Mario Lemieux (1995-96) and Wayne Gretzky (1986-87) for the most assists through a player's first eight games in NHL history, and became the second fastest player to reach 20 points after Lemieux. Leon Draisaitl added a goal and an assist, while goaltender Tristan Jarry made 26 saves as the Oilers improved to 6-1-1 on the season.
