McKenna among top performers in fitness testing at NHL Scouting Combine

Penn State forward Gavin McKenna, the favorite to be the No. 1 pick in the 2026 NHL Draft, ranked in the top 20 in five fitness events at the 2026 NHL Scouting Combine in Buffalo. McKenna, who measures 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, posted notable results including seventh place on the VO2 Max bike test with a time of 14:19 and fourth place on the isokinetic squat test at 3.4 times his body weight. McKenna had declined an invitation to play for Canada at the 2026 IIHF World Championship in order to focus on combine preparation.
