McNish appointed Audi F1 racing director with immediate effect

Audi's Formula 1 team has appointed Allan McNish, a multiple Le Mans winner and former Formula E team principal, as its new racing director with immediate effect. McNish will assume trackside duties starting from the Miami Grand Prix next week, filling the gap left by Jonathan Wheatley's unexpected departure in March. Audi F1 CEO Mattia Binotto, who absorbed the team principal role after Wheatley left, confirmed he will remain primarily factory-based and needed someone to lead operations at race weekends.
