Medic questions protocols after De Miguel death
Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel, 30, died on Tuesday after suffering a cardiac arrest following a heavy on-field collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second division match on Monday. Spain's National Police opened a standard involuntary manslaughter investigation to assess whether the goalkeeper's challenge exceeded normal play. Medical professionals, including the president of Spain's Association of Nurses, Emergency Medics and Caregivers, are now scrutinising the pitchside emergency response, raising questions about the speed of CPR and whether a defibrillator was used.
