Memphis Classic Tournament in full swing as pro tennis returns to Leftwich

Professional tennis has returned to Memphis for the first time in nearly a decade with the inaugural WTA Memphis Classic tournament, which began qualifying rounds on Saturday at the Leftwich Tennis Center. The event marks the first professional tennis played in the city since the ATP Memphis Open relocated in 2017. Rain briefly suspended matches during the qualifying rounds, but the facility's indoor courts allowed play to resume without major disruption.
