Memphis’ Tennis Revival: New tournament at Leftwich Tennis Center puts city back on the map

Memphis is returning to professional tennis after an eight-year hiatus with the Memphis Classic, a WTA 250-level tournament scheduled for July 25 to August 2, 2026, at the Leftwich Tennis Center. The public facility underwent a $33 million rebuild three years ago and will host a temporary stadium seating 2,000 people with premium options. Memphis previously hosted men's pro tennis from 1975 to 2017 and women's events from 2002 to 2013 at the now-closed Racquet Club of Memphis, with past champions including Jimmy Connors and Venus Williams.
