Memphis will not be part of PGA Tour Championship Series status in 2028

Memphis will lose its PGA Tour signature event status after the 2027 FedEx St. Jude Championship, with TPC Southwind — which has hosted the tournament since 1989 and held signature event status since 2019 — not included in the newly announced Championship Series. It remains unclear whether Memphis will be incorporated into the lower-tiered Challenger Series set to launch in 2028, though the PGA Tour describes Memphis as a priority market and says discussions about the future of professional golf there are ongoing.
