Mercedes "closely monitoring" upgrades for the rest of F1 2026

Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff has confirmed the team plans further upgrades in the second half of the 2026 Formula 1 season but is carefully strategising when to introduce them for maximum impact. Mercedes dominated the opening six races with wins from pole position, but Ferrari and McLaren's more aggressive upgrade approaches — including substantial packages at Miami and Barcelona — saw the Silver Arrows win only two of the next five races. Mercedes' only major upgrade to date came in Canada, with the team opting for smaller, gradual updates as it navigates the new regulation cycle and the $215 million cost cap.
