Miami GP Start Time Changed as Formula 1 Tries to Outrun Florida Weather

The 2025 Miami Grand Prix start time has been moved up three hours from 16:00 to 13:00 ET on Sunday, following a joint decision by the FIA, Formula 1, and the Miami promoter. The change was made to avoid forecast thunderstorms and heavy rainfall expected to worsen through the afternoon, which could have forced mandatory grandstand evacuations and race suspensions if lightning was detected within an eight-mile radius. Miami had experienced record heat of up to 93°F during qualifying earlier in the week before the weather shift.
