Michael Edwards leaves Liverpool ownership role
Michael Edwards has resigned as CEO of football for Fenway Sports Group (FSG), departing immediately despite having one year remaining on his contract. Edwards, who originally joined Liverpool in 2011 and served as sporting director under Jürgen Klopp until 2022, had returned to FSG in 2024 to lead efforts to acquire a second club, but made no discernible progress on that goal. His exit adds to significant upheaval at Liverpool, where Arne Slot has already been replaced as head coach by Andoni Iraola, and sporting director Richard Hughes faces an uncertain future amid links to Al Hilal.
