Hull City defeated Millwall in the Championship playoff semi-final, with substitute Mohamed Belloumi scoring a stunning opener and fellow substitute Joe Gelhardt adding another to seal the tie. Millwall, who had finished 10 points above Hull in the regular season and narrowly missed automatic promotion on the final day, have now lost at the semi-final stage for the fourth time, having previously been eliminated in 1991, 1994, and 2002. Hull become the first sixth-placed team to reach the playoff final since Frank Lampard's Derby County in 2019.
