MLB proposes Domestic and International Drafts to Players Association
Major League Baseball presented formal proposals to the MLB Players Association on Thursday regarding both Domestic and International Draft structures as part of ongoing collective bargaining negotiations. The proposal would allow draft picks to be traded for the following year's draft, while restricting clubs from trading first-round picks in consecutive drafts and limiting teams to acquiring no more than three picks in the first three rounds. MLB highlighted that 75% of domestic Major League players were developed through college baseball, and since 2023, 82 college players have reached the big leagues within two years of being drafted, surpassing the total from 2016-2022 combined.
