At the MLB trade deadline, the Los Angeles Dodgers acquired two-time AL Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal from the Detroit Tigers, while the Boston Red Sox landed catcher Adley Rutschman from the Baltimore Orioles, and the San Diego Padres acquired both Casey Mize and Robbie Ray. Overall, 17 teams acted as buyers, 11 teams were sellers, and the Toronto Blue Jays and Washington Nationals were the only two franchises that both bought and sold.
