A special committee of MLS owners met earlier this month to discuss the potential relocation of the Vancouver Whitecaps, with Las Vegas emerging as the top destination under consideration, according to sources who spoke to The Athletic. MLS has held discussions with a Las Vegas investor group interested in bringing a team to the market, though it is not the group behind the $10 billion 'Starr Vegas' Strip development that includes a proposed 50,000-seat soccer stadium. The Whitecaps are currently one of MLS's better-performing clubs, but a move out of Vancouver — and potentially out of Canada — remains on the table unless a local solution is found.
