Molly Caudery ruled out for season after emergency spinal surgery

British pole vault record-holder and world indoor champion Molly Caudery, 26, has been ruled out for the remainder of the 2026 season after undergoing emergency microdiscectomy spinal surgery on or around June 13. The procedure was required after a back issue rapidly deteriorated, and she will miss both the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow and the European Championships in Birmingham. The surgery was declared a success, just days after Caudery won the Diamond League meeting in Rome with a season's best clearance of 4.80m.
