Much-improved Newcastle stop the rot with a 1-1 draw at Fulham - but 'slapstick' defending and wasteful finishing will leave Matthias Jaissle rueing a missed opportunity, writes CRAIG HOPE

Newcastle United drew 1-1 with Fulham in a Premier League match that saw Jacob Murphy score a late goal to give Newcastle the lead, only for them to concede an equaliser shortly after. Manager Matthias Jaissle will be frustrated with the result, as Newcastle had the opportunity to claim all three points but were undone by defensive errors described as 'slapstick'. The draw ends a losing run for Newcastle but represents a missed opportunity given their late advantage.
