Muncy, Vargas OK after head-on collision at first base forces early exits

Dodgers third baseman Max Muncy and D-backs first baseman Ildemaro Vargas collided head-on at first base during the top of the fifth inning on Thursday night at Chase Field, forcing both players to exit Arizona's walk-off 3-2 victory. Muncy passed concussion protocol but will not play Friday, while Vargas had X-rays taken of his thigh, ribs, and neck, all of which came back negative. Arizona manager Torey Lovullo indicated Vargas is unlikely to play Friday despite the infielder lobbying to return.
