MVP Yordan? Slugger makes history with two homers, 6 RBIs in 1st inning
Houston Astros slugger Yordan Alvarez made history on Friday night at Kauffman Stadium by hitting two home runs β including a grand slam β in the first inning against the Kansas City Royals, driving in six runs in that inning alone, a new franchise record. Alvarez, who went 3-for-5 overall, hit his 23rd and 24th home runs of the season, tying the Philadelphia Phillies' Kyle Schwarber for the Major League lead. The Astros won the game 10-8, with Alvarez joining Lee May (1974) and Hall of Famer Jeff Bagwell (1994) as the only players in Astros history to homer twice in a single inning.
