Britain's Cameron Norrie was knocked out of the National Bank Open at the last-16 stage, losing 6-2, 7-6 (10-8) to French 18th seed Arthur Fils in Montreal. Norrie had recently defeated third seed Alex de Minaur but could not build on that form, with Fils dominating the first set before winning a close tie-break in the second. The tournament also saw world number one Aryna Sabalenka suffer a shock defeat at the Canadian Open.
