Netherlands gear up for long-awaited Wheelchair Rugby World Championship return

The Netherlands wheelchair rugby team will compete at the Wheelchair Rugby World Championship for the first time in 20 years, with the event scheduled for 15-24 August 2026 in Sao Paulo, Brazil — the first time the championship has been held in South America. Twelve nations will participate, including Australia, Canada, Great Britain, Japan, and the USA, competing at the Paralympic Training Center. Dutch captain Davy van den Dop has set a top-eight finish as the team's goal, while also highlighting heat management as a key challenge following their experience at a qualifying event in Medellin, Colombia.
