New F1 engine mode to cap top speed potential in Monaco
Formula 1 has introduced energy deployment restrictions for the Monaco Grand Prix to cap the top speed potential of the current generation of cars. The FIA determined that Monaco's short straights, heavy braking zones, and slow corners create ideal energy harvesting conditions, resulting in excess power that raises safety concerns due to cars arriving at corner entries too fast. As a result, no straight mode activation zones will be permitted at the Monte Carlo circuit, with further measures also being implemented to reduce risk.
