New guidelines issued for more respectful TV camera coverage of female athletes

The European Broadcasting Union (EBU) has released new guidelines advising broadcasters on how to use more respectful and non-sexualising camera angles during live female athletics events. The guidelines were developed in collaboration with female athletes, including British Olympic bronze medallist and pole vaulter Holly Bradshaw, who revealed she has encountered inappropriate videos of herself online resulting from revealing camera angles. The initiative aims to address the abuse and exploitation female athletes face on social media due to certain broadcasting practices.
