NHL and NHLPA express concerns over potential NCAA five-year eligibility limit
The NHL and NHL Players' Association have formally expressed opposition to a proposed NCAA rule change that would grant athletes five years of eligibility starting from their high school graduation or 19th birthday, whichever comes first. NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly announced the stance on Tuesday, ahead of Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final, noting that multiple hockey organizations share these concerns, including Canada's three junior leagues, the USHL, USA Hockey, and the college coaches association. The coalition of hockey bodies has collectively raised their objections directly with the NCAA.
