The rankings are based on criteria including recent accomplishments, career history, expectations, and general reputation, making them subjective in nature. Jeff Blashill of the Chicago Blackhawks appears at No. 32, with his eight seasons of NHL head coaching experience — seven of which were with the Detroit Red Wings — noted as part of his evaluation.
