NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly: NHL already having conversations about 34th team
NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly confirmed on Saturday that the league is actively in talks with groups seeking to become the NHL's 34th franchise, though those discussions are less advanced than negotiations with the 33rd team candidate. Dan Friedkin's Pursuit Sports group has already agreed to pay a $2 billion expansion fee to bring a team to either Houston or Austin, Texas, with hopes of debuting within three years, pending arena construction and Board of Governors approval. Daly indicated he expects an update on Friedkin's group in the coming weeks.
