NHL executive says a Texas expansion team could be approved and announced by year’s end

NHL Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly has indicated the league expects to approve and announce a Texas expansion franchise by the end of the year. The expansion effort is being led by a group working with Houston billionaire Dan Friedkin. Daly told The Athletic that an update from Friedkin's group is expected soon.
