NHL On Tap: DeBrincat going for 300th goal when Red Wings host Flyers

Alex DeBrincat of the Detroit Red Wings (1-3-2) needs two goals to reach 300 career goals, which would make him the fourth-fastest active US-born player to achieve the milestone, when Detroit hosts the Philadelphia Flyers (0-5-3) at Little Caesars Arena on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. ET. DeBrincat, who recently signed a seven-year, $91 million contract extension averaging $13 million per year beginning next season, has 298 goals in 702 career games and leads Detroit with eight points in six games this season. Elsewhere, Connor McDavid leads the NHL scoring race with 17 points in six games and is chasing the fastest 20-point start since Mario Lemieux in 1988-89.
