NHL Status Report: Kuzmenko makes debut for Penguins

Andrei Kuzmenko made his Pittsburgh Penguins debut against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, returning 10 days after his father died on a fishing trip in Russia. Corey Perry also made his season debut for the Los Angeles Kings against the San Jose Sharks on Saturday, having missed the opener for personal reasons, after recording 28 points in 50 games last season before being traded to Tampa Bay. Additionally, goaltender Pyotr Kochetkov started for the Carolina Hurricanes against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, his first NHL game since December 20 following lower-body surgery.
