NHL Trade: Florida Panthers Get a New Goalie in Deal with Vegas Golden Knights
The Florida Panthers acquired backup goalie Akira Schmid from the Vegas Golden Knights in exchange for a third-round pick in 2028, ahead of NHL free agency opening Wednesday. Schmid, 26, posted a 16-win season with Vegas and carries a career record of 32-28-10 with three shutouts across 82 NHL games with New Jersey and Vegas. The move comes as veteran starter Sergei Bobrovsky is expected to enter free agency after seven seasons with Florida, which included two Stanley Cup championships.
