Nikki Hiltz stuns Pre Classic crowd in upset win over Faith Kipyegon
American runner Nikki Hiltz defeated world record-holder Faith Kipyegon in the women's mile at the Prefontaine Classic on July 4, ending Kipyegon's five-year unbeaten streak in the mile and 1,500 meters dating back to June 2021. Hiltz won in a time of 4 minutes, 17.49 seconds in front of 12,452 spectators at Hayward Field in Eugene. Fellow Kenyan Dorcus Ewoi finished second in a personal best of 4:17.62, while Kipyegon came third in 4:17.80.
