Football legends from the North East's 'Big Three' clubs โ Sunderland, Newcastle United, and Middlesbrough โ will compete in a Ryder Cup-style golf event on August 10, 2026, at Ramside Hall Hotel and Golf Club near Durham to mark the 30th anniversary of anti-racism charity Show Racism the Red Card. Former Sunderland manager Peter Reid will captain the Black Cats team, while ex-Newcastle boss Chris Hughton leads the Geordie side, with Middlesbrough's former assistant Viv Anderson also participating. The event will also feature an auction of rare football shirts and memorabilia to raise funds for the charity, which was launched in 1996.
