Not even Skenes can stop skid; Pirates swept by Cardinals
The Pittsburgh Pirates were swept in a four-game series by the St. Louis Cardinals, losing 10-5 on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at PNC Park. Ace pitcher Paul Skenes (now 4-2) could not stop the losing skid, giving up a leadoff home run to JJ Wetherholt and a two-run homer to Jordan Walker in the first inning. The Cardinals, improving to 18-13, also capitalized on a Konnor Griffin error in the third inning to extend their lead.
